Live 98 is a soundboard recording said to have been taken from Phairs performance at the Avalon Ballroom in Boston, Massachusetts on November 30, 1998 (see notes) while she was touring to support her third album, whitechocolatespaceegg.
This performance occurred in between Phair’s appearances on the Lilith Fair tour. She would end up opening for Alanis Morissette during the first part of 1999 and then resuming additional Lilith Fair dates throughout the year.

Notes
- This iteration of the recording was made available to members of the Support System group on July 30, 2021, but the source of the actual recording isn’t known.
- The date of the performance is listed to be November 30, 1998, but there were potentially two other performances at the Avalon during 1998 around this time—one on October 6, 1998 and one on November 1, 1998 with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. It’s possible that the dates are off, but it’s unlikely Phair performed three shows at the Avalon within such a short time.
